Cowboy Christmas

Cowboy Christmas

Well, it has been a while since I sat down to write my Musings. Thank you to those who wrote or called to see if I was still on this planet. I’m happy to report I’m alive and well. Work this year was engaging, plentiful and fulfilling, and for that I’m very grateful. I had the pleasure of working with Leadership Baltimore County again, coaching their new cohort of community and business leaders on their individual Leadership Circle Profile assessments. My regular clients have been up to interesting things, which always stretches them and me. The government’s “Continuing Resolution” meant that a number of Federal clients had to put their coaching on hold for three months; that work will resume next week.

On a macro level, the election and all that led up to it felt like a continuous bad dream. That whole process made me even more aware of how important it is to focus on things that I can control, or at least influence. There are many lessons from current affairs that I’m still reflecting on. And, I realize that staying positive is a daily, conscious act that I need to work on. There were also things going on in my family that took emotional and relational energy. Life happened, as it does to everyone. My Musings, which I love to write, got put on the back burner, while my focus was on other more pressing situations.

So, when December rolled around, I knew it was time to recharge. It was wonderful to be able to just kick back and spend time with my family and my friends. Jim and I took a long weekend in Nashville, where we ate a lot of delicious Southern cooking, did the country-western tourist thing (including treating ourselves to cool cowboy boots), went dancing, and just reconnected. Both of my sons were here for Christmas, which is pure bliss. I’ve had some lovely time with dear friends and colleagues. I’ve slept late, gone to yoga classes, laughed a lot, and watched a lot of gorgeous winter sunrises. We will ring in the New Year with close friends and some lively games. I’m feeling refreshed and centered.

My hope is that your holidays were merry and bright and that 2017 brings peace and joy to each of you. Thank you for the privilege of serving you as your executive coach, and for challenging me to be my best self in our work together. Happy New Year!

Warm regards,
Sharon
